A Box for Allen

A Box for Allen is a collaborative sculpture installation made with the artist Robert Wechsler and inspired by the work of artist/architect Allen Wechsler. It is a reconfigured cubicle salvaged from a condemned building that was brought to another dilapidated building in a remote location on UCSB’s campus. The proportions were altered from its original format, creating a long narrow room. It seems to fit the space: the dimensions, the sterile feeling, the décor, and the once new and now worn exterior. Even though it feels like it belongs in the room, it is it’s own bubble of removed space, with its own climate control and entranceway.
